Frequently Asked Questions

What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique designed to enhance your facial features with tiny individual implants of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin, much like a tattoo. It is most often done on eyebrows, as an eyeliner and as a lip liner.

What features do we enhance?

We perform the following types of procedures to enhance the natural beauty of your face: eyebrows, eyeliner, top and bottom; eyelash enhancement, full lip color, hair imitation and beauty marks.

Is this really permanent?

These cosmetic procedures are considered permanent because pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin. Over time, fading will occur. When your permanent makeup fades, just schedule a maintenance appointment with your maker professional to refresh your color.

How Long Will My Permanent Makeup Last?

Permanent make-up is long lasting. However, as you become accustomed to your new makeup it is not uncommon to want more. Eyeliners tend to stay longest. Brows and Lips are more unpredictable depending on the use of cosmetics that have exfoliates in them or not using sun protection. The darker the color, such as black, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin.

What if I don't like it?

On your follow-up appointment, your makeup professional has some flexibility to adjust the shape and color of your permanent makeup. Immediately after application, the colors will appear darker but will soften and lighten during the healing process which takes a week or longer depending on the individual.

Is Permanent Makeup Painful?

New topical anesthetics have been developed especially for permanent make up for eyeliner, eyebrows and lip color procedures. These creams and gels are applied to the desire area before and during the procedure to assure you of the most comfortable experience possible. Taking time for the anesthetic to take effect is important.Your appointment time takes in consideration differences in pain tolerance and tissue implantation. As the anesthetic wears off after the procedure, cool packs are very soothing.

What does it involved?

Your first appointment will be for a consultation to consider what procedures will best enhance your face and answer any questions you may have. Wearing your makeup, where applicable, is requested. If desired the application of permanent makeup can be applied a consultation time please schedule appropriately. It is normal after the first application that there'll be some color changes. Having a great result is important so I encourage communication.

How Natural Will I Look?

Most people who are interested in this procedure want to look as if the procedure has not been done. Because of this concern, this procedure is timed so that your treatment is not applied in a rush and you will be part of the procedure making sure that a mirror is provided each step of the way. You can save many hours in a single year that were formerly spent struggling to draw eyebrows evenly or eyeliner half way straight. I especially like what I call a “Lash Enhancement” or liner put right on the last line that allows the eye to look defined without a harsh look. Another option is to implant a Halo tm (soft powered look pigment) on top of the Lash Enhancement to give a soft defined look.

How Long Will It Take To Recover?

It is not unusual to be able to go shopping after a brow or eyeliner procedure. Lip procedures are more unpredictable at swelling effects clients differently. If you have a history of fever blisters/cold sores it is advised to get a prescribed medication. Most procedures will be healed within a week as tissue and swelling is settled.

Can I Remove My Permanent Make-up?

Because it is easier to add color and difficult to take away, I will be conservative in the initial application of your new color. Take advantage of the consultation to discuss your wants and needs. It is also a time where your cooperation will largely determine the end result of your procedure. Remember it is a team effort!

What If I Am Considering Plastic Surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is desirable for many reasons as we age and also the use of anti-aging products. It is best to have laser or resurfacing done first as this procedure can result in color loss or darkening of your makeup depending on the laser and the colors in your skin. Advise your physician or treatment center that you have permanent cosmetics so that he or she can perform a spot test before they proceed.

What about the Consultation?

Your consultation is complimentary. I ask that you wear your make-up, if that is applicable, during your consult. The consult is about learning what the procedure involves, color, design, and other alternatives if possible.

Can I Get My Procedure Cheaper?

Remember the saying “You Get What You Pay For.” It saves you money and embarrassment to do it right the first time! Most procedures between the consultation and first and second follow-up will take up three to four hours. Cost includes yearly education, member of S.P.C.P., OSHA standard sterilization, updated pigments and equipment. IF you want more information from the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals you are welcome to look up S.P.C.P. org. Your safety is number one!
